All experiments (currently) on pump.science test to see if a compound can increase animal lifespan. Your goal is to find interventions that increase lifespan the most on different animals, and eventually which ones increase lifespan the most in humans.
If you see a Live experiment on the homepage, the animal icons on the right will show you what animal is being tested in that experiment. In the screenshot below, this means two experiments are being run on flies, one testing Rifampicin and the other testing Urolithin A.
Once you click into an experiment, you can see the live data feed.
Work in progress.
The fly longevity experiments involve giving the compound, or placebo control, to a tube of flies (with about 15 flies each). The flies who take the compound are kept in one tube, and the flies who take the placebo are kept in a different tube. Your goal is to predict if the compound is going to make the flies live longer than the flies who get control.
To predict this, you'll have to monitor the flies, which are uploaded to pump.science as they are recorded. You can view the flies in their tubes. The flies in each tube either receive compound or control, which is labeled on top of the tube.
The flies will move around during their lifetimes. If you click on the 'Chart' tab, you can see the data output from an AI model, which predicts how many flies are still alive (Count), how fast the flies are traveling on average (Speed), and how far the flies have traveled (Distance). The Count is what matters most, as the goal is to predict whether the compound will increase the flies lifespan, but the Speed and Distance graphs will help you predict which flies should die first.
At the end of the experiment, there will be a final score: Percentage Lifespan Extension (PLE). This represents how much longer the animals lived who took the drug vs the control. The objective of the game is to find more compounds that increase PLE in all animals tested.
Once the experiment is done, if the market cap of the compound's token hits the next milestone threshold, the next experiment is funded and performed.
